Look for full maintenance records, using the correct synthetic oil...otherwise run away.

Mine wasn’t, but it was 6 speed 24V VR6. I put 150k on it with absolute reliability, and it’s still going strong in the hands of a coworker. It was a great, great car for me. I wouldn’t recommend a 1.8t to anyone though.

heavy, slow, not fun to drive, unreliable, and it was some of the worst years for VW electronics.
that said, somehow the TDIs LAST. I mean like 500K miles last.
